Do you have any questions about attending TEDxSydney 2017? We’ve answered some of the most common questions below. Please read through these to see if your question has been answered, and if not, use our Contact Form to get in touch.

Q: How do I attend TEDxSydney 2017?

A: Attendance to TEDxSydney 2017 is open to all TEDxSydney Members on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, visit the event page, and click Register To Attend. You’ll then be asked to log in with your Member details. Once logged in, you’ll find an option to Register Attendance for 2017.  Please ensure that your Member Profile is up-to-date before registering.

Q: What if I’m not a Member of TEDxSydney?

A: As a Member of the TEDxSydney community, you will be eligible to register for all of the TEDxSydney events throughout the year, including our flagship annual event and our regular Salon sessions. You will also receive our regular newsletter, featuring information about upcoming TEDxSydney events; and fresh new ideas from within the community and beyond. You will also have an optional public profile page on the TEDxSydney website.

Membership of TEDxSydney is free. You can sign-up to become a Member on our Member Registration page. Once a member, you can login at any time via the link in the header.

Q: In previous years, I needed to make an application in order to attend TEDxSydney. Do I still need to do that?

A: In the past, we had many more potential attendees than seats in the venue. We therefore asked Members to apply to attend, selecting attendees based on a set of wide-ranging criteria. This is no longer the case. We have moved to a substantially larger venue in 2017 in order to meet the increasing demand, and to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend. Registrations are accepted on a first-come first-served basis for all TEDxSydney Members.

Q: How much does TEDxSydney cost?

A: Price for attendance in 2017 are being held at 2016 prices – standard attendance is $350, or concession attendance is $175 for the full day. TEDxSydney is designed as a full-day event. There are no half-day or session options. If registering as a concession, please bring along proof of concession on the day.

Q: Will the move to a bigger venue change anything about TEDxSydney?

A: The move to a bigger venue means TEDxSydney will no longer have to turn away the thousands of applicants who have previously missed out due to the event’s popularity. Everything you loved about TEDxSydney will still be there at our new venue – transformative talks, stellar live music and original films; plus the unique food experience and Member tote bag. Also, big does not necessarily mean less intimate, and we will presenting some exciting and unique ways to ensure that – to be revealed on the day!

Q: Who will be speaking at TEDxSydney 2017?

A: Speakers, performers and films will be announced over the coming weeks and will range from some well-known personalities alongside ordinary people with extraordinary stories from around Australia.

Q: Can I register my partner / friend / colleague at the same time?

A: In order to ensure that all attendees are TEDxSydney Members, and that the event experience can be more uniquely tailored for our community, each attendee must register themselves individually. The venue seating is by General Admission, meaning you can sit beside whoever you choose.

Q: How old do I have to be to attend?

A: You must be 13+ to attend TEDxSydney. Attendees aged 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over who has also registered to attend the event. Please note content is considered appropriate for 15+.

Q: Will TEDxYouth@Sydney be on at the same time?

A: In 2017, TEDxYouth@Sydney will be moving to a new venue at a different time of year. More information will be released in June.

Q: Can I cancel my registration after I have paid for attendance?

If you have paid registration fees for the Event and decide not to attend, you may cancel your registration for a full refund (less $35 admin fee), provided the cancellation request is received in writing to us at audience@tedxsydney.com prior to 1 June 2017. Cancellations made after 1 June 2017 are non-refundable, due to catering and venue arrangements.

Q: Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

A. Registrations for the Event may be transferred if the proposed Transferee is also a Member of the TEDxSydney community and the request for transfer is received in writing to us at audience@tedxsydney.com prior to 9 June 2017.

 


OUR COMMUNITY

Q: What does it mean if I’m a TEDxSydney ‘Member’?
A:
 
This means you’re part of our TEDxSydney online community. Only Members can attend TEDxSydney events, but membership is free and open to anyone. As a member, you’ll receive email alerts with information relating to TEDxSydney and details of coming events. You have a profile page and an optional profile photo so other members of the online community can learn who you are and what interests you.

Q: How do I change (or delete) my TEDxSydney website account?
A: 
You need to log in, then you can edit or hide your profile, switch subscriptions on and off, update your photo etc. This is where you can delete your profile if you need to.

Q: I would like to get involved. Do you need any volunteers?

A: We certainly do! To help us pull off another successful event this year, we’re looking for talent to volunteer either on the event day or on an ongoing capacity as a skilled volunteer.
