Want to get more involved with TEDxSydney? On the day anyone can attend CarriageWorks in Sydney and watch the event simulcast in the foyer. Or you will be able to watch the day’s sessions remotely via a live event webcast that is being arranged in association with our streaming partners at Viocorp in Sydney.
You can also: (Be or) Nominate a Speaker or Participate Live as a member of the Bay 17 Audience.
Live participation as a member of the Bay 17 Audience will be limited to a small but cross-sectional number of people: changemakers, innovators, thinkers, creatives, cultural leaders & social pioneers. Some will be nominated by our network of Thinkers & Collaborators. The rest of the seats will be allocated as per an application process that will be launched in January 2010. Be sure to subscribe to our mailing list to be notified about that process.

TEDxSydney 2010 will provide a platform for some of Australia’s leading visionaries and storytellers to speak to an energised group of thinkers, as well as to the world at large … drawing from the following fields of endeavour:
+ SCIENCE
+ TECHNOLOGY
+ CREATIVE ARTS

+ GLOBAL ISSUES
+ GENERAL OTHER
A good TED Talk involves the dynamic and engaging presentation of a compelling IDEA or a great story.
TED isn’t a typical conference, and the TEDxSydney audience will have high expectations of the speakers.
All TEDxSydney talks will be recorded as broadcast-quality video podcasts and will be distributed online via: TEDxSydney.com, the TEDx Channel on YouTube and via other video portals. TED HQ in New York might select some of those talks to be posted on TED.com and translated into multiple languages for the fast-expanding and global TED.com community.
The best TEDTalks are often delivered by previously undiscovered geniuses e.g:
+ Swedish researcher Hans Rosling shows you the best stats you’ve ever seen HERE
+ Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte-Taylor describes her stroke of insight HERE
+ Microsoft Live Labs architect Blaise Aguera y Arcas demos Photosynth HERE
Check out a bunch of our other favourite TEDTalks HERE.
Speakers at TEDxSydney 2010 will be asked to deliver their Idea Worth Spreading in somewhere between 3 and 18 minutes. Less than 20 people will be given this opportunity.
We have a crack team at work identifying and researching potential speakers and performers for TEDxSydney 2010. Even so, you might have someone in mind who would be just right. If so, please nominate them HERE.
For some inspiration we suggest you spend some time viewing the TEDTalks HERE or at TED.com. Also, and this is a real treat, watch this video taking you behind the scenes of the preparation and delivery of a TEDTalk.
Finally, set out below are “The TED Commandments”, some guidance that TED circulates to all invited speakers.
