TEDxSydney 2013 took place on Saturday 4 May 2013 within the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House before a live audience of 2,200. It was also streamed live to a worldwide audience ... viewing from home, the workplace or one of many satellite events. As with any TED event, the programming blended talks and performances with interspersed “tasty video bits.”

From April to June 2012, TED held public auditions in 14 cities on six continents seeking to uncover new talents, voices and ideas the world needs to hear. The TED Worldwide Talent Search in partnership with TEDxSydney came to Carriageworks Eveleigh on 27 May 2012 (the day after TEDxSydney 2012). For the third year running TEDxSydney took place in and around the Bay 17 theatre space at Carriageworks. Once again we were treated to a great selection of talks and performances from some of the region's greatest talent. This year we took our Tasty Video Bits to a new level by proactively reaching out to a selected group of creative organisations and people with an invitation to engage and contribute to TEDxSydney 2012.

TEDxSydney 2011 featured a selection of Australia's leading visionaries, storytellers & performers showcasing their Ideas Worth Spreading LIVE ... as well as online via YouTube to the world at large. Everyone involved in TEDxSydney 2011 (live theatre participants, simulcast watchers in the Carriageworks foyer, and remotely-located webstream viewers) were encouraged to discuss the ideas and themes that develop throughout the day.

There were 5 types of participation:

1. 800 VIEWED the day LIVE as members of the Bay 17 Audience
2. 1,500 ATTENDED the TEDxSydney simulcast Forum at the Carriageworks venue
3. 48,000 WATCHED TEDxSydney Live on YouTube from 8:30AM to 6:30PM

Sometimes magic happens as it did at TEDxSydney 2010. For this first TEDxSydney by the current organising team almost 30 live speakers and performers presented on the main stage within the Bay 17 theatre of Carriageworks before a selected audience of 700, many of whom had flown in for the event from other parts of Australia and the rest of the world.
