Catherine Freyne is an award-winning historian and media producer. She joined ABC Radio as a graduate and worked as researcher, producer and reporter on a range of dailies and weekly specialist programs before joining RN’s Social History Unit as Features Producer in 2008. For her Hindsight audio documentaries, she won the NSW Premier’s History Award in 2012 and 2014.
She has developed multimedia content for the City of Sydney, ABC Innovation, Think+DO Tank and the Dictionary of Sydney. She is represented by the Audiocraft Agency, an association of Australia finest audio makers. As recipient of the UTS Chancellor’s Research Scholarship, Catherine is completing a creative practice PhD that combines history, sexuality studies and audio documentary. True stories, original ideas, the sociological imagination and the clarity of hindsight: these are a few of her favourite things. Catherine is delighted to be joining the TedX Sydney curatorial team in 2018.
