Dr Kai Riemer works with boards and executives to bring foresight expertise and deep understanding of emerging technologies into strategy and leadership.
Kai is a Professor of Information Technology and Organisation at the University of Sydney Business School and, alongside Dr Sandra Peter, is the Co-Director of Sydney Executive Plus (SE+), which focuses on digital-first leadership development. So far, SE+ has helped upskill executives and leaders across 20+ industries in areas ranging from AI Fluency to Geopolitics and Business to Net Zero.
His research centres around the implications of emerging technology on businesses, leadership, work and society more broadly. His expertise is in digital technology, artificial intelligence, the future of work, leadership and skills, and the management of change and transformation. Kai thinks, writes, and speaks publicly about these topics—with the use and future of (generative) AI being the hottest and most-requested topic right now. Most recently, Kai co-authored The 2025 Skills Horizon, a new, annual, global initiative that brings many of these focuses together. It explores what leaders need to know next and features insights from conversations with dozens of executives and leaders—from heads of government to head chefs—about our changing world.
Together with Mike Seymour, Kai co-leads the Motus Lab at the University of Sydney Business School, where he does research into the responsible application and use of AI-enabled digital human technology.
