The University of Sydney has been a leader in ideas for more than 160 years. We generate, cultivate and nurture them for the benefit of Australia and the world. It’s what we’re all about – making lives better by equipping our people with leadership qualities so their ideas can make a difference to all of our communities at every level.
As a leader in tertiary education, we have always been open to new ideas. We were one of the first universities in the world to admit students solely on academic merit, and to open our doors to women on the same basis as men. In creating the first university in Australia, our founders recognised the power of education – and new ideas – to change society. We hold that belief just as strongly today.
Our partnership with TEDxSydney and our role as the presenting partner for TEDxYouth@Sydney in September, is a perfect fit. We share a passion for bringing together diverse ideas and fresh perspectives to tackle some of the world’s greatest challenges.
