What does it mean if I’m a TEDxSydney ‘Member’?
This means you’re part of our TEDxSydney online community. As a Member of the TEDxSydney community, you will be eligible to register for all of the TEDxSydney events throughout the year, including our flagship annual event and our regular Salon sessions. You will also receive our regular newsletter, featuring information about upcoming TEDxSydney events; and fresh new ideas from within the community and beyond. You will also have an optional public profile page on the TEDxSydney website.
You can sign-up to become a Member on our Member Registration page. Once a member, you can login at any time via the link in the header.
Speaking or Performing at TEDxSydney
I have a great idea, and my friend has one too. Can I suggest a speaker?
If you’d like to suggest a speaker for TEDxSydney, please take time to carefully complete our speaker nomination form. As our curatorial team receives hundreds of submissions each year, we may not be able to reply to each submission.
When do applications close for TEDxSydney speaker nominations?
We do not set a close date for nominations, and we encourage you to nominate your idea at any point during the year. As we hold multiple events throughout each year, our curatorial team reviews all nominations on a regular basis, to allow them to identify the best ideas for each event.
I am interested in performing at TEDxSydney. How can I submit my interest?
Please complete our nomination form, providing details of your suggested performance. As our curatorial team receives hundreds of submissions each year, we may not be able to reply to each submission.
How do I attend TEDxSydney 2020?
Attendance to TEDxSydney 2020 is open to all TEDxSydney Members on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, become a member and log into your online account. Once logged in, visit the TEDxSydney 2020 event page, choose your attendance type and click the appropriate ‘Register’ button.

What is the schedule and timing for TEDxSydney 2020?
TEDxSydney is a full day event, with registration starting at 7am. The first session will begin at 8:45 sharp, so come early to have time to check-in, grab a coffee and explore the Hub before the sessions start!
The day includes 4 sessions of talks and performances, with the final session ending at 6:30pm. Immediately following the final session, we hope that you can join us for the After Party to connect with other attendees, speakers, team and volunteers.
How much does TEDxSydney cost?
General Admission prices for attendance in 2020 is $365 for the full day. TEDxSydney is designed as a full-day event and there are no half-day or session options.
In 2020, we are also offering a limited number of early release, concession and unique packages. Register as soon as possible to avoid missing out! You can find details of the pricing options and packages on our event page for TEDxSydney 2020.
In previous years, I needed to make an application in order to attend TEDxSydney. Do I still need to do that?
You no longer need to complete an application to attend. Registrations are accepted on a first-come first-served basis for all TEDxSydney Members.
Who will be speaking at TEDxSydney 2020?
Speakers, performers and films will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event. Keep an eye on our communications and social media posts to receive our speaker announcements!
How can I sign up to host a livestream Satellite event?
Please visit our Satellites page and apply to be a Satellite host.
What support do you provide for those who have special access needs?
We do our best to ensure that all members of our community can enjoy the day. The ICC Sydney Theatre is equipped with lifts and specific seats for wheelchairs and for people with limited mobility. We allow people with assistance animals to attend the event with their animals.
The venue can also provide FM Radios for the hearing impaired.
If you have further special access requirements, please contact us at email@example.com. You can also purchase your registration and choose “Please have someone contact me to discuss my access requirements” when you activate your registration.
Do you accept companion cards for those that require a carer’s assistance in order to attend?
We do accept companion cards so those with carers can attend. Please simply book your own registration and, during the registration activation process, choose “I have a companion card and wish to bring my carer.” We will then contact you to register your carer on your behalf.
How old do I have to be to attend?
The content of the talks is considered appropriate for ages 15+. However, younger children can attend, as long as they are accompanied by an adult or guardian (18+) who has also registered to attend the event.
Will TEDxYouth@Sydney be on at the same time?
TEDxYouth@Sydney is no longer held on the same date as our main event. Our Youth event for 2020 will be a separate event, with the date and details to be announced soon.

Event Registration – Concessions, Groups, Refunds and Transfers
Who is eligible for a concession?
The concession price (for events that offer this option) is available to holders of the following cards: Pensioner Concession Card, Seniors Card, Health Care Cards, New Zealand GoldCard, and Student Cards (full-time students only). You will need details of your card in order to register your attendance. Also, please bring your card with you on the day. Please note that there are a limited amount of concession places available, so register soon to avoid missing out.
Can I register my partner / friend / colleague at the same time?
Yes, you can register multiple people in one transaction. In the purchase confirmation email, you will be asked to have each individual attendee activate their registration separately. This is compulsory for entrance to the event, and each attendee will need to be a TEDxSydney member. The venue seating is by General Admission, meaning you can sit beside whoever you choose.
Do you provide a discount for not-for-profits?
As a not-for-profit ourselves, we are aware of the financial challenges of not-for-profit companies and the financial sacrifices that many of their employees make in order to work in this sector. We also know that employees of not-for-profits are in a unique position to help spread the ideas from the stage to wider parts of the community.
For TEDxSydney 2020, we will make a limited number of discounted registrations ($210) available to employees of not-for-profits (registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission) . You will need to provide confirmation of your employment with a registered not-for-profit in order to attend at this discounted price. This offer is limited to a small number of registrations on a first-come first-serve basis, so get in quick.
Please note we are unable to offer not-for-profit discounted registrations for TEDxYouth@Sydney or other events.
I want to buy a number of tickets for my company. How can I do this?
There are two primary ways that corporate teams can be part of the TEDxSydney experience. The first is via our standard registration process which is open to all members of the TEDxSydney community. As such, if you wanted to send 3 people to the event, you can purchase 3 registrations (in one transaction), and each attendee would sign up as a member (if not already a member) and activate their registration individually.
The second pathway is through a corporate partnership which have a wide variety of benefits, including easy registration for groups. If you’d like to know more about partnership opportunities, please visit our partnerships page.
I’m not a company. Can I get group tickets or a group discount?
We do not provide group discounts, but you can purchase a group of registrations in one transaction. An email confirmation will then instruct you to activate each registration separately. Please remember that attendance is reserved for members of TEDxSydney and Partners, so each person attending as part of a group must be a member and activate their registration separately in order to attend.
Can I cancel my registration after I have paid for attendance?
We are a not-for-profit organisation and our budget is always very tight. Our registration fees represent an integral part of our funding and we do not provide refunds for cancellations
We apologise for the inconvenience, but we hope you understand. We do allow you to transfer your registration to another member, free of charge. Please see the question below for more information on how to transfer your registration.

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
Registrations for the Event may be transferred if the proposed Transferee is also a Member of the TEDxSydney community, with a completed profile, and the request for transfer is received in writing to us at firstname.lastname@example.org 2 days prior to the event (i.e., 20 May 2020 for TEDxSydney 2020).

Is my registration tax deductible?
While TEDxSydney is a not-for-profit, registrations for our events are not tax deductible.
Is my contribution to your Pay It Forward initiative tax deductible?
Unfortunately, your generous contribution to our Pay It Forward program is not tax deductible. However, your generosity is greatly appreciated and will be acknowledged on event day!
Can I apply to receive one of the Pay It Forward registrations?
We partner with a particular organisation each year for our Pay It Forward program, providing their organisation with the Pay It Forward registrations to allocate to people that utilise their services. Unfortunately, we do not have a process to provide these registrations to individuals.
I tried to sign up, but I didn’t receive my confirmation email!
Sometimes this can happen but there’s an easy fix. Head on over to our password reset page, and enter the email address you used for your account. You’ll receive an email with a link to change your password. After that, you’ll be able to access your account.
I see “403 Forbidden” when I click link in my confirmation email.
The link in your email expires in 48 hours. Simply head to our password reset page to set your password. After that, you’ll be able to login to your account.

How do I change (or delete) my TEDxSydney website account?
You need to log in, then you can edit or hide your profile, switch subscriptions on and off, update your photo etc. This is where you can delete your profile if you need to.
Can I change the email address connected to my account.
You certainly can! The steps are as follows:
- Login to your member profile with your old email address.
- Change your old email address to your new email address and select “update” at the bottom of the page.
- You will receive a confirmation email from us that will be sent to your new email address. Click the link contained in this email to confirm the change.
- Now you can login to your TEDxSydney account using your new email address as your username. Your password remains the same.
I would love to get involved. Do you need any volunteers?
We will most certainly be looking for volunteers to help with both TEDxSydney 2020! Applications will open in late 2019 and you can register your interest here to ensure you receive notification at that time.
