Eric Avery

 

Eric’s practice explores the deep relationship between Indigenous and non indigenous forms and narratives through the combination of dance and music. Eric is a violinist and contemporary dancer drawing inspiration from the relationship between different types of music, singing his ancestors songs with violin arranging contemporary music and dance.

Eric has performed with the Black Arm Band and more recently the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Byron Bay Bluesfest and has opened for Grammy Award winner Rhiannon Giddens. Eric has just finished a first stage collaboration with First Nations viola player Melody Mckiver in Sioux Lookout, Canada
