Happy International Women’s Day from the team at TEDxSydney.
It’s no secret that our community is bursting with incredible women and we take joy in celebrating them this International Women’s Day on March 8. But, it’s also important for us all to take the time to recognise that globally there’s still work to be done if women are to achieve gender balance and equality. After all, a balanced world where all individuals are given the same universal opportunities, access, rights and considerations, is a better world.
So this International Women’s Day, we’re taking the opportunity to ask our community, ‘What will you do to create a more gender-balanced world, one that sees #balanceforbetter?
Perhaps you’ll take the time out of your day to celebrate women’s achievement. Maybe you’ll raise awareness against bias or take action for equality. You might even share this piece on women positively shaping culture for a better more balanced future or even simply take the time to read and consider this piece on the state of gender in the gaming industry and the women that are disrupting it for good. You might call your mum, your sister, your wife to tell her how vital she is to our future. Hey, maybe you’ll just take a moment to celebrate yourself, something we’re very onboard with too.
Smalls steps can create a big change if taken together, so however you choose to support International Women’s Day, just know at TEDxSydney we’re right there with you.
